Softened edges can create a feeling of warmth and atmosphere, providing a sense that the various subjects and/or shapes share the same space and are somewhat connected to one another.

Representational works that are slightly blurred overall might appear romantic, as if the viewer is taking in the subject/scene through a haze of love or infatuation. Slight blurring can also simply be a reflection of slightly hazy atmospheric conditions.
