With disjointed distortion, character or objects are portrayed with certain features rearranged, sometimes with these features depicted as if they are seen from different points of view, as in cubism. Such distortion might express the disintegration of the character or object, mentally or physically, or it might express the artist’s inability to make sense of a complicated person, object, scene, or time.
